Description of the objectives, missions and activities of the team (It must necessarily fit with the themes of the laboratory) |
||||||||||
has. Overall goals (Describe in about ten lines the objective of the research carried out by the team)
The MEP research team focuses its activities both on theoretical and fundamental lines of research and on practical subjects with immediate application identified and drawn from the real world in collaboration with the socio-economic sector. This research concerns a circle of questions related to classical Queuing systems and/or with callbacks to several servers taking into account the influence of the reliability of the servers and other parameters such as the loss due to impatient customers, reserved times, passive breakdowns and active breakdowns and preventive maintenance times. These systems have many applications in telecommunications, computer systems and production systems. The growing complexity of computer systems makes analysis, performance evaluation and guarantee of proper functioning more and more necessary. In addition, the proliferation of new applications and services, new transmission media and new equipment puts quality of service at the heart of the development of these systems. Performance evaluation becomes a task essential in order to verify the constraints of the quality of service. However, models of real systems are complex and very large.
For this purpose, several evaluation techniques have been obtained, as well as several modeling methods are used today. These methods include stochastic comparisons, martingales and game theory techniques. Finally, an experimental validation is essential in order to measure the gains in complexity obtained in real cases. |
