  3. Presentation of the Laboratory

Explanatory memorandum: (The need to create a laboratory as part of the establishment's project in terms of research and training)

As the university has no research laboratory in mathematics, for a university the size of the University of Blida, the mathematical community is called upon more than ever to propose the creation of a laboratory which will soak up the teaching and research activities relating to the LMD reform. Indeed, the offers of master's and doctoral training will now be backed by the new laboratory.

Concretely, the laboratory can support a large number of new MAB Class teachers wishing to continue their research in a field of mathematical analysis, so it will be an alternative for Operational Research and Stochastic Modeling teams who have shown a very significant activity. , as it will certainly allow the expansion of mathematical training at the University of Blida 1 to encourage students to choose this course.

The laboratory is structured into five research teams, namely:

    Mathematical Analysis and Applications,

    · Graph Theory and Combinatorial Optimization,

    Modeling and Performance Evaluation,

Modeling and Forecasting of Extreme Events,

    · Algebra and Number Theory.

Objectives of scientific research and technological development:

    The laboratory has several objectives:

Development of fundamental research in Mathematics,

Promotion of applied research by favoring as much as possible interactions with experimental sciences,

Valuation of training and teaching activities (training and supervision of authorized master's students),

Impregnation of bases for basic and applied research activities,

    Promotion of doctoral training,

Participation in the organization of scientific meetings,

·Coordination with intra and extra domain teams.

Topics covered by the proposed laboratory:

The laboratory develops four research themes focused on theoretical problems and applications. The main themes are:

    Mathematical Analysis,

    · Operational research,

    Statistical Probabilities,

    · Algebra and number theory.
