In the debate on the city, the idea of ​​building "the city on the city" is today the basis of any urban intervention, whatever the sites and whatever the dates of construction of the districts concerned. In this context, work on preserved buildings is the main component of urban projects. In terms of construction economy, building conversions generally offer significant cost reductions, provided that certain conditions are met, relating in particular to the good match between the new function and the existing form.
