Vulnerability of historic buildings to natural risks
(earthquakes, landslides and floods, climate change).
The aim of the study is to describe and make known an environmental phenomenon which has had considerable consequences on the architectural, urban and landscape level, namely capillary rise. The degradation of the built and landscape heritage in El Oued faced with the rise in the water table, the consequences of which are today considerable, such as the degradation of the urban space and the visible damage to the traditional buildings as well as the rising capillaries on the historic buildings of the Kasbah of Algiers, the consequences of which are also devastating, jeopardize a heritage that is several hundred years old. This research work will revolve around the evaluation of the vulnerability of capillary rises or the water table in Algiers and El Oued and to compare the results in terms of damage and preventive measures to be applied for a lasting protection not only of the building but also of the urban landscape.
