Justifying absences

The Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning (IAU) at the University of Blida 1 boasts a suitable physical and professional environment dedicated to architectural heritage. The Department of Urban Heritage was established by Executive Decree No. 13-163 of April 15, 2013, which created the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning of Blida 1 (Article 2).

The department boasts a distinguished faculty of specialists and experts in the field of architectural heritage restoration and rehabilitation. These professors, themselves restoration specialists, are actively involved in this area, overseeing restoration projects throughout the country. The strong social and professional connections within the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, coupled with the expertise of its faculty, make this recently established department an ideal academic space for teaching architectural heritage professions.

The curriculum focuses on the techniques and methods related to managing rehabilitation projects through graduation projects. This training program equips students with the technical and professional skills necessary to master architectural projects, particularly in the context of rehabilitating, restoring, and sustaining architectural heritage (from initial assessment to final building documentation). Secondly, it introduces students to scientific research.

Finally, the strength of the teaching provided by our faculty and researchers, most of whom are practicing architects, stems from an experiential pedagogical approach that combines science, technology and culture.

We welcome our students and wish our educational community continued success. We extend our gratitude to our partners and all who contributed, directly or indirectly, to this achievement, especially the administration and the academic council of the Blida 1 Institute of Architecture.
