The Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning (IAU) at Blida 1 University offers a suitable academic and professional environment dedicated to architectural heritage. The Department of Architectural Heritage was established under Executive Decree No. 13-163 of April 15, 2013, which created the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning at Blida 1 University (Article 2).

The department brings together a highly qualified team of specialists in the restoration and rehabilitation of architectural heritage. These faculty members, who are also practicing restoration experts, are actively involved in the field and supervise restoration projects throughout the country. The strong social and professional partnerships of the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, combined with the expertise of its faculty members, make this recently established department an ideal academic setting for the teaching of architectural heritage professions.

The curriculum focuses on techniques and methodologies related to the management of rehabilitation projects through graduation projects. This training program provides students with the technical and professional skills required to master architectural projects, particularly in the context of the rehabilitation, renovation, and sustainability of architectural heritage, from the initial assessment to the final construction documents. In addition, the program introduces students to scientific research.

Finally, the strength of the education provided by our faculty members and researchers, most of whom are practicing architects, lies in a pedagogical approach based on practical experience that combines science, technology, and culture.
