The 70th Anniversary of National Student Day

On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, University of Blida 1 commemorated the 70th anniversary of National Student Day. This annual event honors the historic stance taken by Algerian students in 1956, when they answered the nation’s call to join the glorious Liberation Revolution—a timeless milestone embodying the highest values of awareness, sacrifice, and devotion.

The ceremony was presided over by the Governor of Blida, Mr. Djamel Eddine Hasshas, in the presence of civil and military authorities, media representatives, and the University of Blida 1 community, led by the Rector, Professor Mohamed Bezina.

The event took place at the university’s Grand Conference Hall, featuring a rich program that balanced historical remembrance with the showcasing of modern scientific and creative achievements.

  • Official Opening: The ceremony began with the raising of the national flag and the performance of the national anthem, followed by a moment of silence and the laying of a wreath to honor the souls of the martyrs.

  • Exhibition of Innovation: The official delegation toured an exhibition of student innovations involving scientific clubs, business incubators, and technology accelerators. The projects displayed reflected the university’s excellence in supporting scientific research and fostering entrepreneurship.

  • Historical Legacy: A lecture was delivered on the national significance of May 19, 1956, highlighting the pioneering role of students during the revolution. This was accompanied by a documentary film tracing the struggle of the Algerian student movement.
