History of the Faculty

The Faculty of Science was officially established within Saad Dahleb University – Blida under Executive Decree No. 98-253 dated 24 Rabi’ al-Thani 1419, corresponding to August 17, 1998, amending and supplementing Decree No. 83-544 of September 24, 1983, concerning the model university system.

2004

 LMD Program

Our university is among the first in Algeria to implement the new LMD education system (Bachelor – Master – Doctorate).
The Faculty of Science is also the first within Saad Dahleb University – Blida to follow this new education system according to LMD standards.

Since 2004, the year the LMD system was adopted, new specializations have been introduced in both academic and applied Bachelor programs, aiming to align the faculty’s training with the demands of the labor market.

Departments

The Faculty of Science consists of five departments: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Common Core, in addition to a library.

Laboratories

The efforts made in the field of scientific research have led to the establishment of three Physics laboratories, two Chemistry laboratories, one Computer Science laboratory, and one Mathematics laboratory.

Wings

Today, the Faculty of Science includes five wings: Wing 1, Wing 4, Wing 5, Wing 13, and Wing 14.

Our Programs

The Faculty of Science is located in the facilities of the former Institute of Exact Sciences. The faculty offers the following programs:

  • University Studies Diploma (DEUA) – 3 years

  • Postgraduate Diploma (DES) – 4 years

  • State Engineer – 5 years

  • Master

  • Doctorate of State in Science

These programs cover the following specialties: Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, and Chemistry.

Since 1998, the Doctorate of State in Science has been replaced by the Doctorate in Science.
Additionally, the Faculty of Science is authorized to grant the rank of “Assistant Professor” in Physics and Chemistry.
