Currently, the Pre-Clinical Department is responsible for a three-year training cycle, which includes the first, second, and third academic years. The new six-year veterinary medicine curriculum provides high-quality education that is aligned with the latest developments in the field of veterinary sciences.
During the years spent in the Pre-Clinical Department, students are expected to acquire all the fundamental theoretical knowledge necessary for a smooth transition into clinical education. The curriculum covers core biomedical disciplines (biochemistry, physiology, bacteriology, histology, embryology, chemistry, biophysics, etc.), as well as subjects directly related to veterinary sciences (animal husbandry and production, nutrition, anatomy of different species, reproductive physiology, semiology, etc.).
Starting from the current academic year (2023/2024), all first-year courses will be taught in English. The Pre-Clinical Department includes more than 50 teaching staff members, most of whom are senior lecturers, and they teach approximately 800 students through lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions. The various courses are delivered in the institute’s new infrastructure, which includes three lecture halls, tutorial rooms, and teaching laboratories, as well as a university experimental station and a biotechnology platform dedicated to reproduction.
