Head of Department
The Department of Medicine, Surgery and Reproduction was established in 2013 with the restructuring of the university and the creation of the Institute of Veterinary Sciences. The tasks assigned to this department are:
- Managing the operation of the veterinary clinic and creating a suitable environment for the smooth running of clinical activities.
- Organizing external training for students in the clinical phase, whether within the framework of practical training or completion of end-of-study work.
- Student Affairs Department, Year 6.
The importance of this section lies in the fact that it gives a unique character to the veterinary curriculum and training. Indeed, the veterinary curriculum is medical training, and thanks to the various services offered by the clinic (pets, farm animals, equine clinic, and mobile clinic), veterinary students learn how to care for animals in the clinic and develop their diagnostic approach.
Clinical Phase Department

The clinical department includes teaching the fourth, fifth and sixth years of the veterinary studies program that leads to obtaining a doctorate in veterinary medicine.
The department includes 38 first-class teachers who provide educational guidance to students in the core subjects of the specialization according to the characteristics of animal species, after they move to the pre-clinical department which enables them to acquire the necessary knowledge in basic sciences.
The clinical department's goal is not limited to providing high-quality academic education for its students. It also plays a role in the professional training of future veterinarians through practical and clinical work, as well as educational trips organized within the framework of agreements concluded between the Institute of Veterinary Sciences and its social and economic partners.
Since the institute's inception, the department has been working to develop training in veterinary science thanks to the efforts of the administration and faculty. Clinicians and surgeons participate in teaching the clinical rotations, and professional equipment and medical supplies are provided to trainees annually to meet their educational needs in terms of knowledge, technology, and resources.
Pre-clinical phase section

Currently, the pre-clinical department is responsible for three years of training: the first, second, and third years. The new six-year veterinary education program provides high-quality education that keeps pace with the latest developments in veterinary medicine.
During the years spent in the pre-clinical department, students are expected to acquire all the necessary theoretical and fundamental knowledge to easily transition into clinical training. The curriculum covers the core areas of biomedicine (biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, histology, embryology, chemistry, biophysics, etc.) as well as courses directly related to veterinary science (animal breeding and production, nutrition, anatomy of different species, reproductive physiology, and symptomatology, etc.).
Starting with the current academic year (2023/2024), all first-year courses will be taught in English. The pre-clinical department has over 50 instructors, most of whom are top-tier, teaching 800 students in lectures, seminars, and laboratories. The various classes are delivered in our institute's new infrastructure, which includes three lecture halls, seminar rooms, teaching laboratories, a university experimental station, and a biotechnology platform for reproduction.
