Since its creation in 1986, it has been a training institute for highly qualified human resources in the field of aeronautical maintenance and operation in Algeria. Engineers and technicians trained throughout these years, civil and military, work in various organizations related to aeronautics and air transport in Algeria and even abroad.

Since its new status as an institute within the university, the Institute of Aeronautics and Space Studies is currently structured into three departments: Department of Aeronautical Construction, Department of Air Navigation, and Department of Space Studies. The institute has evolved a lot in the field of training, and has become very attractive for students, which they access with very high means and levels at the Baccalaureate.

Our university is among the first universities in Algeria to take charge of training in the new LMD system (Bachelor-Master-Doctorate). The Institute of Aeronautics and Space Studies is the first at Saad Dahlab University to be in tune with this new LMD training. Since 2004 (year of the establishment of the LMD system), applied and academic licenses have were created, with a view to adapting the training provided at the Institute to the needs of the labor market.
