As part of the university’s commitment to consolidating national memory and strengthening the spirit of citizenship and belonging among students, in fulfillment of the sacrifices of the righteous martyrs and drawing inspiration from their values ​​in the journey of building the Algeria of tomorrow, the University of Blida 1 commemorated the National Day of the Martyr on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, under the slogan “Fulfilling the covenant of the martyrs and building the Algeria of tomorrow,” which coincides with February 18 of each year, in the presence of various components of the university community.
The occasion began with a gathering in the Flag Square, where the opening chapter of the Quran was recited in remembrance of the souls of our righteous martyrs, followed by the laying of a wreath at the memorial, in an atmosphere marked by reverence and remembrance of the heroic deeds of the liberation revolution.
During the event, a series of activities were carried out under the supervision of the Sub-Directorate of Scientific, Cultural and Sports Activities, in cooperation with the Arts and Creativity Club. These included the performance of the national anthem by the club’s students, a lecture on the role of the student movement in supporting the liberation revolution, in addition to the screening of a documentary about the life of the martyr Bouamama Djilali, a revolutionary play, and a national choir performed by the club’s students.
