University of Blida 1 Marks Heritage Month with a Study Day on Protecting Architectural Legacy

Blida 1 University, represented by the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, commemorated Heritage Month by organizing a study day in collaboration with the ETAP Laboratory on Sunday, April 19, 2026, under the theme: “Our Heritage… Our Civilization.”

Official Opening

The event was inaugurated by the Vice-Rector in charge of Pedagogy, Professor Chaknan Omar, representing the Rector of the University. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the vital role of the university in protecting heritage and training specialized professionals in the field. Similarly, the Director of the Institute, Dr. Mohand-Said Abdelrahim Naima, stressed the necessity of linking academic training with field practice to address the challenges threatening architectural heritage.

Key Highlights and Participation

The gathering, which coincided with Science Day, saw the participation of professors, researchers, and students, alongside experts and professionals. The discussions focused on the primary challenges facing urban heritage, including:
