The Fourth Edition of the UNESCO–Russia Mendeleev International Prize in the Basic Sciences
02/26/2026

The UNESCO–Russia Mendeleev International Prize in the Basic Sciences was established in 2019 by the Executive Board of UNESCO. Its Statutes (attached herewith) aim to promote and reward excellence in the basic sciences, particularly in the fields of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology, as key disciplines for advancing innovation and sustainable development. The Prize also seeks to recognize outstanding achievements in the development and dissemination of the basic sciences and in fostering international cooperation in these fields.

UNESCO invites its Member States, including Algeria, in consultation with their National Commissions, as well as non-governmental organizations maintaining official relations with UNESCO and active in the fields covered by the Prize, UNESCO Chairs, Category 2 Centres, international scientific unions, and universities, to nominate individuals for the fourth edition of the Prize.

In this context, the Prize will be awarded to two (02) laureates, each receiving a monetary award of USD 250,000.

Nominations for this Prize must be submitted through the National Commission no later than 5 March 2026, via the following link:
