1st National Seminar on Innovation and Sustainability in the Food Industry: Challenges and Opportunities for the Future (IDIA 2024)

The 16 October 2024, the Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (ISTA) hosted the first edition of the National Seminar on Innovation and Sustainability in the Food Industry (IDIA 2024). This national event, initiated to respond to the growing challenges of sustainability and innovation in the food sector, was officially inaugurated by Mr. Mustapha Nabi, Director of ISTA, and Mr. Ahmed Bouzar, President of the seminar.

In his opening speech, Mr. Mustapha Nabi expressed the importance of such an initiative for the sustainable development of the food sector in Algeria. “We are facing a crucial period where innovation must be at the service of sustainability. IDIA 2024 is an opportunity for industry professionals, researchers, teachers to come together, share their experiences and build a more responsible future together,” he said.

Mr. Bouzar also spoke to emphasize the need for a joint commitment between industrial and academic stakeholders. According to him, sustainability can only be achieved by integrating innovative practices and better resource management.

The seminar addressed three major areas essential to the future of the food industry:

1-Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Food Production.

2-Excellence in Quality Management: Standards, Audits and Continuous Improvement .

3-Nutritional Trends and Food Formulation: Meeting Consumer Needs .
