From competition to innovation: Blida 1 University organizes the national aviation competition “Rocket 2025”.

On Wednesday and Thursday, December 17-18, 2025, the University of Blida 1 hosted the sixth edition of the joint Algerian inter-university competition in the field of aviation, entitled “Rocketry 2025” (Rocketry - Edition 2025), which was organized by the University’s Institute of Aviation and Space Studies.

This national scientific event falls under the Algerian Interuniversity Aeronautics Competition (CI2A Rocketry), which this year came under the slogan:
"From competition to innovation"
(From Competition to Innovation),
Through an advanced engineering challenge aimed at improving rocket design, testing hybrid engines, and developing a payload.

This edition saw the participation of students representing nine (09) national universities and schools, namely: University of Blida 1, University of Bab Ezzouar, University of Bel Abbes, University of Adrar, University of Tipaza, University of Ouargla, in addition to the national polytechnic schools in El Harrach, Oran and Constantine.

This edition was distinguished by its focus on respecting and integrating the technical and scientific standards adopted in previous editions, particularly those related to engineering design, engines, electronic systems, measurement and control systems, and safety standards, in an approach that mimics international standards adopted in modern aerospace industries.

The competition took place under the supervision of a specialized jury that included a select group of professors and experts from national and international backgrounds, including Mr. Kharat Abdelkader, an engineer at the global aerospace company “Bombardier” (Canada), along with specialists from the Algerian Space Agency.

As for the opening ceremony of the event, it was supervised by the Director of the University of Blida 1, Professor Bezina Mohamed, in the presence of officials and professors of the Institute of Aviation and Space Studies, headed by the Director of the Institute, Professor Benkhedda Amina, in addition to a considerable number of university students from various disciplines, and representatives of the national press.

The event was also attended by representatives of the official sponsors of the competition, namely the Global Network of Algerian Scientists, Electronic Software and SOFICLEF, who contributed to supporting and making this scientific event a success with a national and international dimension.

It should be noted that this competition was launched at the initiative of
Professors from the University of Blida 1 in collaboration with Algerian experts residing in Canada.

This event is a high-level scientific and educational opportunity for students specializing in aviation and space, as it provides direct contact with international experts and the acquisition of advanced practical experiences in aviation engineering and space technologies. It also opens up future prospects for conducting the first local launch experiment of a hybrid engine over national soil, which confirms once again the excellence of the Institute of Aviation and Space Studies at the University of Blida 1 and its leadership in organizing purposeful scientific activities with high added value.
