The first national forum on “The Contribution of Artificial Intelligence to Ecological Design and Energy Transition in Algeria” was launched today, Monday, December 1, 2025, in the lecture hall of the sports complex at Blida 01 University. The forum was organized by the Laboratory of Energy Methods and Nanotechnology (LPEN) of the Faculty of Science and a number of academic and institutional partners.
The opening ceremony was attended by a select group of professors, researchers, and experts from various universities, headed by the Director of Adrar University, research centers, university staff, as well as representatives of emerging institutions and doctoral students, in a scientific meeting that seeks to promote the role of artificial intelligence in supporting energy transition and environmental innovation in Algeria.
On behalf of the University Rector, the Vice Rector for Research, Professor Rodan Mohammed, opened the session with a welcoming address, praising the initiative to organize this forum and emphasizing that artificial intelligence has become a fundamental pillar in developing effective solutions in the fields of energy and sustainability. He also reaffirmed the University's commitment to supporting scientific initiatives and strengthening partnerships that foster research and innovation.
The first day featured a series of scientific presentations and specialized discussions that addressed key topics, including:
▪️The role of artificial intelligence in improving energy efficiency and achieving sustainability.
▪️Intelligent modeling for managing complex energy systems.
▪️Using big data to predict the environmental performance of buildings and facilities.
▪️Innovation in renewable energies through machine learning technologies.
▪️Current challenges of the energy transition in Algeria and opportunities for cooperation between the university and the industrial sector.
In her address, Dr. Maazouz Halima, President of the Forum and Director of the LPEN Laboratory, emphasized that the aim of this meeting was to establish a serious scientific platform for exchanging expertise and exploring innovative solutions to environmental and energy challenges. She added that the diversity of participation and the richness of the contributions reflect the growing dynamism of scientific research in Algeria and the leading role of the university in driving innovation.
Finally, this forum represents an interactive space that brings together academics, researchers, and economic stakeholders, and aims to promote the use of artificial intelligence in:
▪️ Eco-design and food industries
▪️ Water Resources Management
▪️ Environmental sustainability and public health
▪️ Supporting green startups
These efforts are aimed at contributing to building a more sustainable Algerian model that is able to keep pace with global transformations in the field of energy and the environment.
